Creating hand-fabricated designs using only traditional metalsmithing techniques, Little Cat Metals begins with American recycled sterling sliver and gold with ethically sourced stones minimizing environmental impact.
Each stone is handset in artist-made bezels allowing for a more diverse selection of stone shapes and sizes. No templates, molds, 3D printing, outsourcing, etc., are ever used. Each piece is truly one of a kind, cleanly executed, named for the little things that inspire.
Little Cat Metals is the partnership of Carol Joannidi and Dana Hunt. A team forged from too much coffee and IT burn-out.
Carol is the founder, lead artisan/designer, and metalsmith spending most days in the studio hammering, cutting, or melting metal into shape. Classically trained in metalsmithing at the School of the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston; Carol’s designs are lightweight and durable hinting at a timeless modernity. Inspired by nature, math/science, & her surroundings while stressing positive and negative spaces.
Dana is an apprentice metalsmith & runs the back of house as the Project Wrangler & Happiness Coordinator (not to mention salad maker and coffee brewer).
Carol, Dana & two rascally rescue cats currently split their their time between the wilds of western Massachusetts and the calming ocean vibes of Cape Cod.
When not in the studio or traveling for "art tour" they enjoy cooking, a good book, and chasing the local groundhog out of the garden.
